Zurich and Seoul Blockchained: History, status and future of the internet of value

Extra public blockchain event

Blockchain and related technologies enable the storage of immutable records in a decentralised fashion, even in absence trust between system participants. Financial applications (like cryptocurrencies) are just the tip of the iceberg. They have not only disrupted multiple application fields, and but also created whole new ecosystems around them. Switzerland and South Korea (and more specifically the areas around Zürich and Seoul) are world-renowned hubs in the development of these disruptive technologies. But as opportunities abound, there are also multiple challenges (technological, legal and economic) that must be resolved while keeping the pace of accelerated development.

Discover in this public event which conditions are instrumental for the development of blockchain technologies in Switzerland and South Korea. In lectures and panel discussions, representatives of Academia (University of Zurich Blockchain Center and Sogang University), Industry (Trust Square - the blockchain hub in Zurich –, Dream+ - Seoul -) and practice will speak and discuss how the technology inception and transfer can be fostered.

The event will be opened by the President of the Government of the Canton of Zurich, Carmen Walker Späh, with the participation of representatives of the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
